Málaga CF welcomed CF Pozuelo de Alarcón on Sunday at 16:30 at the Ciudad Deportiva Fundación MCF for matchday 5 of Group 3 of Segunda Federación Femenina.
The Blue and Whites went into the game on 10 points, sharing the top spot with CD Argual and Sección Deportiva Real Betis Balompié. The Madrid-based visitors, meanwhile, started the matchday in eighth place with 10 points.
Héctor Díaz named a starting XI in a 1-4-4-2 formation, with M. Arrabal in goal; Encarni, Jeni L., Yoli Peche and Elsa in defence; Andrea Ríos and Andrea H. in central midfield; Yessenia A. M. and Carmela on the wings; and Futu and Torralvo up front.
The first half was played at a high tempo, with the game going from end to end before the Malaguistas settled things down by opening the scoring. Torralvo and Yessenia A. M. combined, with the ‘9’ heading home from the number 26’s cross from the right (1-0, 23’).
The right winger then doubled Málaga’s advantage in the closing stages of the first half. She received the ball behind Andrea Ríos, beat her marker and, after her first effort was saved, found the net at the second attempt (2-0, 43’).
After the restart, the team continued to build momentum, producing a series of swift attacking moves. Following a recovery by Lucía Correro, L. Ramos put the game beyond doubt with a left-footed finish (3-0, 79’).
The victory takes Héctor Díaz’s side to 13 points, keeping them among the three teams leading the league.
The next fixture will see the team take on CD Getafe Femenino on Sunday 11 October, kicking off at 16:00 at the Polideportivo Municipal Juan de la Cierva.
