Dani Sánchez: “The team competed well, but we had to fight with one man down very early”

The Malaguista fullback spoke after the 1-0 defeat to Eldense. “We want to apologise because today was the day to secure our place. We’re really looking forward to Saturday and doing it with our fans,” he said.

Details that define the match

“We worked hard all week to prepare for today’s game. If Lobete had scored, it would’ve changed everything. Eleven versus eleven would’ve been a completely different match. We had to fight with one man down from the 7th minute. At half-time, we said we were competing well, defending well. The team performed well, but in those final minutes we lacked cutting edge up front. We could’ve done a bit more damage.”

Focus on Sporting

“We have to win the match at home. We’re calm because we still have a six-point cushion. We’re confident that football will reward us at home, with our fans, who truly deserve it.”

Message to the fans

“We want to apologise because today was supposed to be the day to secure our survival. We’re hurt because we know there are a lot of people counting on us.”

Looking forward to Saturday

“The fans will respond like they always do, and so will we. We always go hand in hand. We're really looking forward to Saturday and being able to secure our place.”
