Málaga CF Femenino were in action yesterday, Sunday, on Pitch 4 of the Ciudad Deportiva Fundación MCF, corresponding to matchday 25 in Group 3 of the Segunda Federación, against Guiniguada Apolinario CD, in their last home fixture of the 2025/26 season.
The Blue and Whites started the match in third place with 45 points, 13 ahead of the Canarian team, who were in ninth place with 32 points.
For #MálagaGuiniguada, Héctor Díaz set up his team in a 1-4-4-2 formation featuring María Arrabal in goal; Lorena Herrera, Marina, Yoli Peche, and María Farfán in defence; Noemi and Andrea Herrero as the double pivot; Encarni and Yessenia on the wings; and Futu alongside Arantxa as the two most advanced and mobile attackers.
The match started at a high tempo from the opening minutes. The Canarian side tested María Arrabal early, but she dealt well with a cross-shot from the left. Málaga responded shortly after, with Yessenia firing a shot that was comfortably saved by the visiting goalkeeper.
Yoli Peche had to leave the pitch due to injury in the 19th minute, with Belén coming on in her place. It was the first forced substitution of the match.
Despite this setback, MCFF continued pushing to open the scoring in the first half. Noemi came close from a corner kick, attempting an Olympic goal, but visiting goalkeeper Mar Pérez managed to clear it.
Shortly after, Héctor Díaz made a tactical adjustment on the wings, switching the wide players so that Yessenia moved to the right and Encarni to the left, a change that proved crucial in the course of the match.
Around the half-hour mark, Encarni recovered the ball on the left wing to keep the move alive, which shifted play to the right side. There, Yessenia and Andrea Herrero combined, allowing the number 19 to deliver a cross. The number 5 finished the move by sending the ball into the Canarian net, arriving from a second line run at the far post (1-0, 31').
The goal boosted the team, which pushed to extend their lead. They did so just minutes later in a move that was both started and finished by Arantxa. She first recovered the ball in midfield and later finished the play with a half-turn strike after a move down the right involving Yessenia and a touch-on from Encarni (2-0, 39').
The number 10 almost added a third shortly after with a header from a Yessenia cross, but goalkeeper Mar Pérez produced a strong save.
The deserved 2-0 scoreline stood at halftime. After the break, another headed effort, this time from Lorena Herrera straight into the goalkeeper’s hands, almost put the game beyond doubt.
In the 69th minute, Málaga made two more changes, with Andrea Ríos and Alicia coming on for Noemi and Yessenia.
The midfielder later tested the visiting keeper with a long-range free kick, but it was comfortably gathered. At the other end, María Arrabal also dealt with a tame shot from the left without trouble.
It was a constant wave of Málaga chances, with the third goal coming close up to five times through Arantxa (twice), Andrea Herrero, Alicia, and Encarni.
That third goal finally arrived in the 85th minute, after a run from Alicia down the left, finishing with a low shot into the far corner (3-0).
Futu later struck the crossbar, and Guiniguada managed to pull one back in stoppage time through Raquel Quintana (3-1).
With this victory in the penultimate match, MCFF remains third with 48 points, just two behind second place held by Sporting de Huelva. They will close the regular season next Sunday 26th at 12:00 away against Cacereño.
