Convincing home win to open the season (2-0)

Málaga Femenino got their season off to a winning start with a 2-0 victory over Guiniguada Apolinario at the Estadio Abdallah Ben Barek on the opening matchday of Group 3 in the Segunda Federación de Fútbol Femenino.

The 2026/27 season got underway with a good turnout in the stands on the main pitch of the Blue and White ground.

Héctor Díaz selected the following starting-11: M. Arrabal; Encarni, Jeni L., Yoli Peche, M. Farfán ©; Yessenia A. M., Noemi, Andrea Ríos, L. Sánchez; Futu and Andrea Herr.

After a fairly even opening 15 minutes, Málaga took the lead. Yessenia showed great composure to beat the opposing keeper and calmly slot the ball into the net (1-0, 17’).

Futu had gone close just a minute earlier (16’) after being played in by Encarni, and almost doubled Málaga’s lead with a shot that went narrowly wide of the post in the 20th minute. Málaga deserved to be further ahead, but the teams went into the break with the score at 1-0.

After the restart, Guiniguada continued to hold off Málaga’s greater attacking threat. They even created a couple of isolated chances, but María Arrabal dealt with them confidently.

In minute 60, Héctor introduced two new signings, with Torralvo making her return to the pitch for the first time in a Málaga shirt, and Carmela replacing goalscorer Yessenia and Futu. Marina Tomás came on for Noemi in the 69th minute, while the final changes in the 82nd minute also saw two players make their debuts: Elsa and reserve team player Lucía Correro came on for fellow debutant Lucía Ramos and Andrea Herrero.

And it was homegrown striker Correro who sealed the win with a superb goal, finishing coolly in a one-on-one after a devastating counter-attack (2-0, 85’). An immediate impact from one of the academy’s brightest young prospects.

Málaga CF secured their first win of the campaign and will face two away games next week: on Wednesday in Huelva in the Copa de la Reina, followed by Saturday’s league trip to Cáceres, their first away fixture of the season.
