Adriana Martín crowned pichichi of Women’s Second Division Group IV

The Málaga CF Femenino captain’s 43 goals make her the top-scorer in the entire group of Andalucía and Extremadura in the Second Division: “I came here faced with the challenge of helping the team, winning the League and taking part in the play-offs”.

The league final of the Women’s Second Division saw Málaga CF Femenino crowned champions with 71 points. The Malaguistas shone during the season in defence, only conceding six goals. However, their performance on the attack was outstanding. In total the girls scored 126 goals, 43 of which were netted by Adriana Martín. The team captain, with over 40 goals, has been named the pichichi not just of the Malaguista squad, but the entire Group IV of the Women’s Second Division.

The striker, who arrived at Málaga in summer from Levante UD, spoke to the Club media after hearing the news.

Proud of the results

“If I’m honest I didn’t expect this. I knew that I was coming to a great Club with a great team, and that the year I was with Antonio he got the best out of me. After the injury I sustained, although I know I recovered well, I had no idea the season would end like this. It’s an absolute honour for me to have ended the campaign in this way, and that the injury allowed me to enjoy such a great season”.

43 goals to help the team

“My objective was more of a group one than individual. If it came with the challenge of helping the team, winning the League and taking part in the play-offs, then even better. However, I arrived here to enjoy the excitement of playing football and I did that. I also scored a lot of goals”.

Promotion phase

“We’ve worked hard, it’s been a tough season. Some may think, because of the results, that it’s been easy, but that’s not the case. We’ve been working since 2nd August at the start of the pre-season. We’ve consolidated the dressing room and we’re a great group of girls, which we’ve shown on the pitch. Now comes the most difficult task, but the rest of the reason has also been tough. Regardless of the rival, we want to start competing and getting Málaga Femenino to the First Division”.
