Málaga CF Femenino defeated SPA Alicante by 0-2 in the second match of the playoffs to the women’s First Division held at the Antonio Solona football ground in Alicante. Goals from Meri and María Ruiz led to the second victory for the Blue and Whites in these promotion playoffs.
The Malaguistas imposed their game and dominated in the rival area from the outset. The match belonged to the Blue and Whites, with Adriana having several chances to open the scoring. In 15’, a double play by the captain and Paula were the clearest opportunities to take the lead, but the match remained goalless. SPA regained force, and in minute 18, Marina Martí tried to beat Chelsea but the ball crashed into the crossbar. From the 20th minute onwards, the match evened out and goal opportunities were shared between both sides. In 37’, the game tipped in the Blue and Whites’ favour, with a perfectly executed cross shot from Meri Marti resulting in a 0-1 lead. The result remained the same at half-time.
In the second half, SPA took the initiative and approached the Málaga area, where they came up against the defence of Ruth and Postigo and the hands of Chelsea. The onslaught of the local side began to dissipate and Málaga again took the reins of play. The game moved to the Alicante-defended area, and in 63’, a shot from Shiv came close to another goal for Antonio Contreras’ girls. Málaga remained constant and comfortable on the pitch at the Antonio Solona. In 77’, Contreras made some changes, giving minutes to María Ruiz in place of Sheila. The entrance of the Almáchar-born striker led to the 0-2. A minute later, the forward headed the ball into the net following a corner, goal number two for Málaga Femenino. In minute 94 the referee blew the final whistle, signalling the second victory for the Malaguistas in the promotion playoffs to the Primera División Femenina.
