Willy: “It would have been good to win, but we need to correct our mistakes”
Coach Manuel Pellegrini held a press conference following the CA Osasuna v Málaga CF match at the Reyno de Navarra this afternoon. Camacho, Willy and Jesús Gámez appeared in the mixed zone.
Pellegrini
“I think it was a fair draw. We had several chances to score in the first half, though Osasuna dominated possession in the second half of the match, so it was a very balanced game. We performed well against a tough rival who played a very strong match in front of their fans, who really put pressure on the visiting team. I said earlier in the week that the support for the home team at their ground would be an added pressure for us.”
Willy
“At the beginning of the season we barely gave our rivals a chance to get near the penalty area. Every match is different however, though we were determined to come home with a victory from this game. We need to rectify the mistakes we’ve made and make sure we return to winning ways. As a team we’re used to the various problems we’ve been faced with off the pitch, but now we need to ensure we’re performing as well as we possibly can on the pitch. This is the first time I’ve been to Pamplona, where my grandfather was born, and it would have been good to win. We need to adapt more to the performance of each rival. The Argentinean national team coach has got a tough job to do. I really hope I get the chance to play for my country.”
Jesús Gámez
“They kept the pressure on us for 90 minutes, and made it a tough match. When you know you can’t win a match, the important thing is not to lose. We’re pleased with our performance today, though I don’t think the fact we’re taking part in three competitions was a factor in the result, it depends on the match. We needed more players upfront today.”
Camacho
“It was a strange match today. We had a completely different mentality going out on the pitch than we had in the last two matches. I think we performed well for the 90 minutes, especially Willy who made some sensational saves. The important thing is to keep working hard and playing the best football we can.”
