“We’ve gone up to seven players to register this season”

Málaga CF’s judicial administrator, José María Muñoz held a press conference at La Rosaleda this morning. During his initial speech he stressed that the seven new signings will be registered with LaLiga between today and tomorrow.

In his introduction, Muñoz spoke of a “frenetic week” with the positive news of the secure registration of seven players who have recently arrived at the Club: Alberto Escassi, Dani Barrio, Iván Calero, Cristian, Yanis, Caye Quintana and Orlando Sá.

“It’s a delicate, committed job. Málaga Club de Fútbol is sanctioned by LaLiga which results in a series of impediments when it comes to signing” said Muñoz who thanked the media, institutions (City Hall, Provincial Government and Junta de Andalucía), with a special mention to Mercedes García Paine, to whom, paraphrasing her, he wished "encouragement" and to move "forward" in her recovery, and to Francisco Martín Aguilar, for his work representing the Club.

In terms of acknowledgements, he highlighted the support of the Federación de Peñas Malaguistas and the Grada de Animación ‘Fondo Sur 1904’, as well as Malagueño and Malaguista actors Antonio Banderas and Antonio de la Torre for their recent “altruistic” collaborations with the entity.

The administrator affirmed that due to COVID-19, season tickets cannot be sold, and attracting new sponsors is not straightforward. In addition, he praised the work of Manolo Gaspar and his team. “They’re working like mad to make the best possible squad. Their effort is commendable”, he affirmed.

In addition, of course, Muñoz talked about the fans “in particular the 18,475 season ticket holders, some of whom are upset about the season ticket situation. Málaga does not have the million two hundred thousand euros required to return to all of them the proportional part of the games that ‘have not been played’. If I had any capacity when calling a shareholders' meeting to increase capital, which I said back in June was one of the options, I tell you now that I would allocate funds to return that amount in full. Without a doubt. The most important thing we have are our season ticket holders”, he stressed.
