Málaga CF Femenino defeated CE Seagull at Roma Luz, in the first round of the Copa de la Reina 21/22. Goals from Clo and Torralvo - from the penalty spot – take Ayala’s team to the next round.
The Blue and White squad was made up of María Arrabal in goal; Encarni, Ruth, Yoli and Elena in defence; Lorena, María Cortés, Teté and Clo in midfield; and Claudia and Carmen on the attack. Bertuchi and Torralvo also played, as well as Marina and Silvia in the final stages of the match.
From the outset, Málaga asserted their playing at home status, even though their superiority was not reflected on the scoreboard, at least in the first half. The rival team, with experienced and very tough players, knew how to contain the Malaguistas’ dominance. Lorena, in minute 25, had the clearest opportunity of the first half with a shot to the crossbar.
Then in the second half the goals arrived. Clo scored the 1-0 in 53’, with a good low shot from a lateral free-kick to the rival area. Immediately afterwards, a goal from Torralvo was disallowed. However, the Granada-born killer showed a lot of hunger for a goal, as always. It was in the 80th minute when she converted from the penalty spot to take the girls 2-0 up. The seventh goal for Sonia this season (six in the league, one in the Cup competition).
MCFF are through to the next round and their second Copa de la Reina tie will also be a single match. The rival and date are yet to be determined. The fifth win in as many games, counting the four league matches, for Ayala’s solid team.
