Press conference

“We’re going to fight to get as high up the table as possible”

Málaga CF coach, Sergio Pellicer held a remote press conference at La Rosaleda in the run-up to LaLiga SmartBank matchday 39 away to Real Oviedo.

Focus on ourselves

“First we have to secure our place. Let's see what happens with the results, and then focus on us. Strange things always happen at the end of the season. There are situations where rivals surprise you and score points at very difficult grounds. We’re almost there, but we know that in football, until the maths says so, we can’t celebrate anything”.

Competitive and intense rival

“This is a team that has lacked consistency, but in extreme situations knows how to compete. The squad has been beset with injuries and problems related to COVID-19 that have weighed them down. They are fighting to secure permanence in the division, which may not have been their objective at the start of the season. It’s going to be a tremendously tough game, against an opponent with a solid defence. A very intense rival with a similar game model to ours”.

Caution with Hicham

“He’s carried out two normal training sessions, but he’s back to be part of the group dynamic. He’s going to stay on the bench, and the normal situation would be for him to stay there. However, our idea is that he re-enters gradually, hopefully he’ll be able to play in these last three games. He needs to feel like a footballer again, both personally and emotionally”.
