Press conference
Weligton: “We’re looking forward to making a big jump”

One of the Malaguista captains, Weligton de Oliveira holds a press conference at the Ciudad de Málaga. “Everything looks good, so I hope we can do something great” says the Brazilian defender.

Good feelings

“We’ve got a fairly ample squad, with everyone eager to prove to the coach they have the potential of being on the team.  The work is very tough, the main difficulty is the heat, but it’s essential to get back to full fitness and start the season at a high level.”

Planning

“This year we’ve had enough time to plan the team and have made some good signings.  Feelings are good, and we await the start of LaLiga to see if the results go in our favour.”

New kits

“They’re different, very cool.  They’re great kits, and I hope they bring us a lot of luck and much success.”

New central defenders

“Little by little we’re getting to know each other.  Diego (Llorente) already knows LaLiga; Bakary (Koné) still needs to adapt, but he’s an experienced, quality player.  Competition is healthy, it’s good to have competition for your place, so you perform better, and with that the Club wins.”

Enthusiasm and excitement

“It’s still too soon to say anything, but for now we’re all extremely enthusiastic, excited and looking forward to making a big jump.  Málaga is an important Club, as we’ve shown in recent years, and we have a big opportunity to keep moving forward.”

Objectives

“We must focus on one step at a time, one match at a time, as we do every season.  We can’t set ourselves a goal, but internally we will set our own objectives.  Everything will depend on the start of LaLiga, and how we approach it.  I never tire of saying that we have high moments and low moments, although I hope the low moments are as few as possible.  I think after Christmas we’ll have much more of an idea of what we’ll be fighting for.  The fans’ hopes go hand in hand with ours, everything looks good so I hope we can do something great.”
