Weligton Robson Pena de Oliveira speaks to MCFTV in the gym at the Ciudad de Málaga stadium, during the recovery from his right knee injury.
In a short while, physically fit
“Those who know me know that being on the other side means you suffer a lot more, myself in particular. The League break has come at a good time for me, and this week I’ve been doing a lot of work in the gym to try and strengthen the muscles. The idea of both the doctor and myself is for me to be in group training next week.”
Start of 2016/17
“During the pre-season we played some great matches, and performed to a high level. When the season kicked off, it wasn’t like that, but I trust in the quality of my teammates. The central defenders? Looking to the future, Diego Llorente is one of Spain’s central defenders, and Koné is great, he needs time to adapt to LaLiga. My concern is that we adjust as soon as possible so as not to let important points escape.”
Continuity of Camacho
“Maintaining the foundation is very good. At present, Málaga have the opportunity to sell, and sell well, not like in other years. Strength of the Club? They showed strength over the issue of Camacho. Once more, the Club was able to keep an important player, and I hope that Camacho will continue to bring what he brings to the team for many years to come.”
European aspirations
“We must aspire to achieve great things, without forgetting about us. Taking things step by step, aim by aim, the first task is to earn enough points to guarantee permanency, and then move on to other goals, which would be UEFA.”
Discussed, but indisputable
“Every year I always face certain speculation at the start of the season, new signings…and at the end of the day, I’ve played almost every game. I know my end will come, that day will arrive, but as long as the injuries permit, I want to keep giving my all and fighting for my place. My objective this year is to play football, stay in the starting-11, help the team and improve our classification.”
