Víctor: “One half for each team; we lacked goals”

The Malaguista coach attended to the media in the press room at Los Pajaritos: “We talked at half-time, we made some changes, certain modifications, and in the second half we were completely different”.

One half for each team

“I think the analysis today is very clear, one half for each team. In the first half, we gave a lot away. We had some very naïve losses which led to dangerous situations at our goal, which luckily Numancia didn’t take advantage of. We had our approaches and opportunities in the first half, but overall, we were inferior to Numancia in the initial 45 minutes”.

A great second half

We talked at half-time, we made some changes, certain modifications, and in the second half we were completely different. We played in the rival half, made very few mistakes that caused dangerous situations in our area. We were far calmer, and the match went where we wanted it to go, with good opportunities which we didn’t manage to convert. The positive thing is we didn’t concede a goal, we were lucky in that respect in the first half, as we weren’t at our best. In the second we corrected our mistakes and had the performance and effectiveness we wanted in defence. We lacked accuracy in front of goal to get the three points”.

The fans, an unconditional factor

“I see the fans constantly supporting the team, so the varying attendance levels in games depends on other factors. I’ve seen the fans get behind the team in every game, in addition they know they are fundamental. In this situation, the financial circumstances impeding us having a balanced squad, with the rest of our rivals having options; in this situation of adversity in which we’re competing, our fans are crucial and are fully behind the team. Am I worried? Quite the opposite. We’re thrilled to have our fans’ support as they add so much to our performance and are helping us a great deal. The points we’ve won have had a lot to do with the fans”.
