Fifteen years of growing Malaguismo in Mollina

The Peña Malaguista de Mollina celebrated its 15th anniversary yesterday as a supporters’ group, in an event attended by Blue and White goalkeeper Carlos López.

The Mollina supporters have proudly carried the Malaguismo flag for 15 years in one of the inland towns of the province that has seen the most growth in all areas over the last decade.

Málaga CF attended the supporters’ club celebration with a delegation led by first-team goalkeeper Carlos López and advisory board member Antonio López. Also present at the event was Miguel Molina, president of the Federación de Peñas Malaguistas, along with representatives from several Blue and White supporters’ clubs from neighbouring towns.

The event was divided into two parts. In the first part, at the Las Acacias stadium in Mollina, there was an autograph session where Carlos López delighted those in attendance by signing dedicated postcards, autographs,  shirts, and taking photos with many youngsters. He even took part in a relaxed penalty shootout with the youngest kids in one of the goals.

Later, at the supporters’ club headquarters located in the Indalecio bar, the institutional side of the event took centre stage with an exchange of Malaguista gifts and speeches of thanks from Antonio Moreno, president of the peña, and the mayor of Mollina, Eugenio Sevillano. “Thank you for the welcome and for representing Malaguismo in the towns. We feel very close to all of you at La Rosaleda,” said Carlos López.

In the epilogue, there was a reception featuring local products from an area especially known for the richness and quality of its vineyards, and for the kindness and warmth of its people. Here’s to at least 15 more years, Mollinatos!
