Málaga CF is defending seventh place in the League table, which Tissone vindicates in today’s press conference following training: “We’ve had a great season and we deserve this place.”
The Málaga CF midfielder is pleased the team put an end to the run of negative results with last weekend’s win in Almería: “It was difficult to break out of this poor streak, but we knew it would come to an end sooner or later with last weekend’s win, which we deserved in numerous matches. When things start to get tough and more time passes, it gets trickier to turn things around. However with a great attitude we soldiered on, which we proved in Almería.”
In order to achieve the second objective of the season “we must win our last two matches. We can’t think about calculating whether a draw would suffice, we need to earn the six points in play, knowing we’re faced with two difficult clashes with teams in the top part of the table.”
For Tissone, Sunday’s match at the Madrigal “will be different from the first round. Villarreal have achieved their goals whilst we’re still fighting for our next objective.” The fact that the rival has qualified doesn’t mean it’ll be better or worse for Málaga CF: “You never know whether it’s a good or bad thing to come up against a team in their situation. They could be more relaxed whilst not under any pressure, or they could go out there and have fun and perform at their best. You never know. It’ll be a more open match, particularly being so hot.”
The Argentine midfielder analyses the season: “It’s been excellent. Nobody could have predicted we would secure First Division permanency with more than 10 matches remaining, or the fact we’re fighting to maintain seventh place to qualify for a passport to Europe. It’s a great, unexpected success, and is merit to the team’s hard work all season.”
