“This year’s season’s ticket will be similar to that of 19/20”
José María Muñoz, in his initial press conference, talked about issues related to season ticket holders and Loyal Malaguistas. “Our objective is to reach 20,000 season ticket holders this year,” he said.
Málaga CF’s judicial administrator wanted to “thank the 7,000 fans who were cheering us on on that first Monday against Mirandés, the team really felt it and we hope they keep coming. It was a shame to see some fans outside in Ibiza, but unfortunately there’s no exchange of tickets between clubs due to the sanitary measures”, said Muñoz, who is happy about the “reception we’ve had from Loyal Malaguistas, currently totalling around 9,000; it was about bringing the fans closer, and it has become something featuring several very important advantages”.
In regard to the possibility of purchasing a standard season ticket, “nobody knows how this pandemic works, we can plan for two weeks in advance which makes things very difficult. We can’t launch season tickets as only 7,000 people can enter La Rosaleda at this time. The solution is to sell single tickets. We said this from the start, we’ve been very transparent”, said the judicial administrator.
“We can’t sell season tickets, we would have already liked to have sold 50% of the capacity with no restrictions, and advance the season ticket campaign. Also for financing reasons. This year’s season’s ticket will be similar to that of 19/20, it couldn’t be any other way”, he added, stating “the prices are similar”, in relation to other clubs in the category.
Muñoz also made “an appeal” urging “Malagueños to come to La Rosaleda. With the population of Malaga province, we cannot have lower season ticket holder levels than other comparative cities. We have to push forward and encourage Malagueños to come to the stadium. Our objective is to reach 20,000 season ticket holders this year, when we can issue them (season tickets), which hopefully will be next week.” He made it clear that “it does not depend on us, but on the intersectoral agreement that all the autonomous communities have with the Ministry of Health. We think that it will change next week, Málaga has moved from level 3 to level 2 and hopefully all the season tickets can be issued, or at least 50%”.
He went on to say that the “Loyal Malaguista subscription has increased by 30% this month”, highlighting the sponsorship revenue generated from “the Diputación and Málaga City Hall. We need more private sponsorship and more season ticket holders. We can’t aim to be in the First Division if our season ticket numbers are at the 18,500 mark or if Málaga businesses don’t support Málaga”, he concluded.
