The Academy of Values, ready for the first course

The ambassadors at the helm of this new organisation held a virtual meeting to go over the final details before the debut.

Málaga CF and the MCF Foundation are very clear that good behaviour, sportsmanship and solidarity are the main foundations to defend their shield and that education is the best tool to bolster them. All the players within the MCF Academy are aware that they represent the Blue and White colours outside the sports environment, which is a responsibility that doesn’t just fall on them.

Their family members, who accompany them to matches and daily training sessions also play a crucial role. Although they may not don a pair of football boots, they are part of MCF, and their commitment is key to the good image of the Entity.

Although good behaviour is paramount, it’s not the only factor this school focuses on to help the development of the Blue and White homegrown players. In fact, there are eight topics included in these ‘courses’: Values, Motivation, Sporting Objectives, Communication, Psychological Tools, Healthy Habits, Studies and Technological Management (social media).

Before getting underway, the ambassadors held a meeting to finalise any last details. This team, headed up by Fernando González – an expert in sports psychology and head coach of Málaga Genuine – is made up of: Manolo Gaspar, head of MCF’s Sports Department; Sergio Pellicer, first team coach; Nati Gutiérrez, women’s first team coach; Manolo Sánchez, Sergio Pellicer’s second coach; Josemi, Málaga CF delegate; Sergio Paulo Barbosa Valente ‘Duda’, head of the MCF Academy; Raúl Iznata, Málaga CF Femenino coordinator and MCF Academy delegate; Francisco Lupiáñez ‘Capote’, technical secretary; Juan Francisco Funes, AT Malagueño coach; Francis Bravo, AT Malagueño coach; and MCF Academy coaches, Nacho Pérez Santamaría, ‘Juanito’ Gutiérrez, Iñaki Goitia, Juan Calatayud and José Antonio Martínez Puente ‘Ayala’.
