‘Malaguista’ striker, Seba Fernández, spoke to MCF TV during pre-season training in Bitburg, Germany.
The Uruguayan-born player has adapted well to the fast rhythm of training under the new coach: “The first few days are always tough and seem really long, but the coaching team has made it very clear what is expected from us. The coach likes things done right.”
Seba is pleased with the climate in Germany and the Sportschule complex: “It’s much cooler here which makes training a lot easier, and the main reason why this location was chosen. It’s still hot, but it hasn’t reached anywhere near 30 degrees since we arrived. The sports complex is great, the training facilities and accommodation are perfect.”
Seba has adapted well to the demanding training schedule: “We’re focusing on the day-to-day, you can’t think about the 18 or 20 days that are left, but just about the next session that day. If we thought about all the hard work ahead of us, we’d go crazy! The focus is on one day at a time, as we’re really enjoying ourselves. I'm sharing a room with Willy and we’re having a great time.”
“The challenges are the same every year: to play the best football we can and make the most of every chance we get on the pitch. I’m determined to improve as a player every day and with every match. The coach will decide who’ll make the team, but my personal aim is to get better with every training session and every game,” states Seba regarding his objectives for the year ahead.
The League competition will be tough: “It’ll be difficult, as the Spanish League always is, but we’ll focus on each match at a time and play as well as we can. Every member of the team is determined to get as high up the League table as possible and perform well in the Copa del Rey too. We’ll see how we get on, as there are so many factors that determine a team’s success.”
