Schuster: “I hope we can return to winning ways”

Málaga Club de Fútbol coach, Bernd Schuster, held a press conference at the Ciudad de Málaga athletics stadium, following the afternoon training session. The ‘Malaguista’ coach analyses tomorrow’s important match against Celta de Vigo.

Bernd Schuster is confident the three points from tomorrow’s game against Celta de Vigo will remain at home: “The defeat by Osasuna hit us hard, and anything can happen at the Bernabéu, so I hope our luck changes tomorrow and we achieve an important victory.”

The ‘Malaguista’ coach, who hinted at a Roque and El Hamdaoui pairing on the attack, is aware Málaga CF is up against a strong rival whose game play has been praised since the start of the season: “We know how dangerous Celta are, and they’re playing much better than their position in the League table reflects.  They play good football and we know it.  It’s crucial that we remain focused on the finer details to try and avoid costly mistakes, but I’m concerned about my team; how a player is performing, last week’s defeat at the Bernabéu…We’ve shown we can create good opportunities on the pitch, maintain a strong attack and have good continuity in our game play.  We’ve got a heavy match schedule this week, with three important games, so we need to get off to a good start.  We’ll have Santa Cruz and El Hamdaoui upfront tomorrow, they work well together and can help us move around the pitch.”

Schuster refers to the crucial part the Blue and Whites’ fans will play in tomorrow’s game: “The fans have a very important role, and feeling their support throughout the stadium is vital.  I know from experience that the fans will be behind their team all the way.”

Finally, the Málaga CF coach talks about the condition of the pitch at La Rosaleda, and ‘El Clásico’ between FC Barcelona and Real Madrid: “We’ve come here to the athletics stadium to train, which is fine, but I hope the pitch is ok for tomorrow’s game.  It wasn’t too bad when we played Osasuna, so I don’t think it’s the cause for too much concern.  ‘El Clásico’?  We’ll see who wins, it’ll be a good match between two amazing teams.”
