Sergi Darder: “We couldn’t afford to make any mistakes”

The Mallorcan-born midfielder returned to the starting-11 tonight, against his former team that he was with for four years: “I’m really pleased that the coach put his trust in me for this match, and we managed to come home with a point.”

Gaining a point in this match was crucial to the entire team: “It wasn’t an easy game and we couldn’t afford to make any mistakes.  We owe it to our fans.”  It’s important that the team focuses on the future, and doesn’t dwell on previous poor results: “Saturday’s disappointing game is in the past, we’re now concentrating on future matches, scoring goals and winning.”

The Artá-born player appeals to the fans: “We really need their support, now more than ever.  We’re much stronger when they’re behind us, they make a huge difference.”

Eliseu also appeared in the mixed zone after tonight’s match, following his return to the starting-11: “We’re pleased with this draw, we performed well tonight, but I think we were just unlucky to not get a goal.”  The Portuguese-born player came close to scoring: “Casilla made an excellent save on a difficult shot.”

The Blue and Whites play host to Real Betis Balompíe on Sunday: “We’ve put last weekend’s defeat behind us now, and it’s crucial that we win on Sunday against Betis.  We need to show great improvement and secure a home win.”
