Schuster: “It’s been a horrible day”

The Málaga CF coach held a press conference at La Rosaleda following the match against Real Club Celta de Vigo. Schuster says it was a “difficult day” but is confident the team will turn the situation around on Tuesday at the Cornellá stadium.

Firstly, the German-born coach believes the match was determined by RC Celta’s first two chances which they converted into goals: “These two goals hit us hard and made us incredibly nervous.  It was a big blow for us as we had great intentions for this match, but we need to move forward now.”

Schuster adds that the team was psychologically affected after the first two goals, and found it hard to fight back: “It worried me that we had so many problems after the rival scored the first goal.  We couldn’t get an equaliser, change the rhythm of play or put sufficient pressure on Celta.”

The Málaga CF coach analyses his team’s difficulty in creating goal chances: “We’re still having problems creating scoring opportunities, and approaching the target from the wings.”  Schuster continues: “The main problems are attitude, disputing decisions, fighting for each ball…it’s something the whole team needs to work on and resolve.”

Fortunately there is another League match on Tuesday: “Having another game so soon afterwards can only be a good thing, so we’re not dwelling on such an awful result for a week.  We need to rectify this situation on Tuesday, so we’ll be working hard tomorrow and Monday, and concentrating on gaining three points from the game against RCD Espanyol.”
