Santa Cruz: “We should be pleased we came home with a point”

First goal-scorer of the night, Roque Santa Cruz, and midfielder, Ignacio Camacho who was part of tonight’s starting-11, appeared in the mixed zone at the José Zorrilla stadium, following the 2-2 draw against Real Valladolid.

Málaga CF’s Paraguayan-born striker addressed the media in the mixed zone: “It’s a strange sensation really, as we were in control of the match.  Unfortunately we conceded goals, but Pawlowski equalised.  We should be pleased we came home with a point.”

The ‘Malaguista’ is critical the team conceded two goals: “We’ll have to watch the video again to see what went wrong.  We suffered a lot from set pieces tonight so we need to make sure it doesn’t happen again,” affirms the Blue and Whites’ striker who is still pleased with tonight’s draw.

Ignacio Camacho is also self-critical about conceding goals: “We lacked concentration which led to Valladolid scoring twice.  It’s crucial that we don’t let the same thing happen in future matches.  It’s tough to win games like this, and we can’t afford to give away goals.  We should have won, but two mistakes led to two goals from set pieces.”  Camacho takes away some positives tonight: “The team did play well and at least we gained a point.”
