Schuster: “We played much better football tonight”
The German-born coach is pleased with the team’s performance, looks at the positive aspects of tonight’s draw and bringing a point home, and is critical of the lack of concentration which led to the Valladolid goals.
“I liked a lot of what I saw in the team this evening. We played much better football tonight, compared to earlier games in the season. I think we lacked a bit of experience, but I’m content with the draw,” explains Schuster.
Javi Guerra conceded the first goal against the ‘Malaguistas’ in recent matches: “Conceding goals doesn’t worry me too much, but our Achilles heel is not paying enough attention in set pieces. Our defence was solid in the first half, and the rival was unable to get too near the goal area, but in the second half we lost concentration and paid the price with two goals.”
The Blue and Whites’ coach analyses Pawlowski’s performance: “His goal tonight will really boost his confidence. He’s working very well and the support he gave the team in this match was phenomenal.” Schuster still can’t evaluate the Santa Cruz – El Hamdaoui partnership: “They’ve not played together that much yet. I can’t really say a lot about the formation from this game, it’s still too soon.”
