Santa Cruz: “I’m extremely keen to help the team”

Paraguayan-born striker, Roque Santa Cruz held a press conference this morning at the Ciudad de Málaga press room: “I’m not far from being back to 100 per cent.”

Physical state

“I’m thrilled to be back with the team.  I’m feeling much better in every training session, and am moving closer to making my debut sooner than expected.  Although I’m working calmly and serenely, I’m extremely keen to help the team, spend each day with them and support them.  Returning to the pitch on Saturday is the coaching team’s decision, as well as the medical team, but we’re constantly talking about it and things are looking up.  I’m not far from being back to 100 per cent.”

Spirit of unity

“We have a very healthy dressing room.  There is a common feeling amongst us all as we strive to achieve the best results and win games.  We must have a spirit of unity, an intense language between us and the security and conviction that the work we’ve been doing will enable us to win matches.  We have top playmakers and the goals will soon come.”

Amrabat and Camacho: important players

“I see Amrabat as a fantastic player; he has an important physical strength and as soon as he returns he’ll be back to 100 per cent.  Camacho is a leader for us on the pitch, he is very keen to get back, is improving every day and just needs time to return to full fitness.  We must look to maintain our strength, and need to claim the three points from the next three matches if we can.  In my case, when I’m fit I’m always keen to reach the 100 per cent mark for the Club.  We gain a great deal with Amrabat and Camacho, they bring a new air to the team.  I hope that by December the three of us will be match fit.”

Tragedy in France

“We are fully aware of the situation, which is extremely sad.  The spirit of football brings people together, and we share the heartache brought about by this tragedy and hope that soon sanity will prevail.”
