Romero: “You need to keep a cool head and a warm heart”

The Malaguista coach, in the run-up to #OsasunaMálaga: “We need to go out there with bite, like the rival will”.

Ascending line

“The idea is to play each weekend and show that the team is improving. It’s no use having performed well against Real Madrid with a negative result, if we don’t do well in Pamplona, play good football and win. Often, what rules is the result. The team is doing great, they’re strong and I believe we’ll have possibilities to earn points there”.

Winning mentality

“We need points, and I think the team is achieving the right dynamic. We must always go out to win, whichever ground we’re playing at. Regardless of whether the rival is Madrid, Osasuna or Espanyol, we must always focus on victory. Logically, to do that we need to give our all on the pitch, try and impose our football and achieve a positive dynamic”.

Rival – CA Osasuna

“They appear to be totally different; a team that wants to win, a team that is competing. They try to play direct football, they practically play in your half of the pitch and rely on support from their fans who pressure the rival. At the end of the day, we need to play in the same way, try to have a little more gameplay and dynamic, which the opponent could have”.

El Sadar, difficult ground

“Certain players haven’t been to this ground before, and it’s hard to imagine what you could find there. Those who have played there, such as myself, try to explain that we’re not going to come up against a quiet rival. We’ll be facing a team with bite, who wants to claim victory and who is determined to do so. It’s important that we try to maintain the level of calm needed during this type of game. When a rival is going all out, and when the crowd is behind them and supporting them, you need to keep a cool head and a warm heart. If we want to win, we need to go out there with bite, like the rival will”.
