Two mistakes

“The game was defined by our mistakes. We made errors that cost us goals When we had a 1-0 lead, we should have used our experience to maintain that result. At specific times, we should have defended the three points better. Two mistakes cost us the goals”.

Little success in front of goal

“It’s no good if you don’t convert the chances you create. We had some promising opportunities, that were more or less clear, yet we weren’t successful in front of goal. They had two clear chances, and got the goals. We’re still giving away some one-on-ones, which is proving very costly indeed”.

Calm

“They have reason to doubt. I will defend the project as much as I can. I remain calm because the work is there. The team is working well, but the results aren’t coming. As such, there have been many different coaches. I’m here, I’m from Málaga and I’m not going anywhere. I will defend these colours and work with the team to the death. I’ll continue to work side by side with them because I believe in this project and the players. You cannot change today for tomorrow, it takes time. Throughout the season we will improve. I want to convey a sense of calm. We’re a committed group, and want Málaga to move as high up the rankings as possible”.

Changes

“Decisions need to be made. I think this is a good time for Jony. He’s a pretty good attacking player. In the second change, we tried to accommodate the wings by introducing Ontiveros. He tried hard and I think he did very well. The entrance of En-Nesyri also contributed a lot to the team, and we generated more approaches to the rival area”.

Tribute to Pablo Ráez

“We tried to show our affection for Pablo today, by doing our bit. He demonstrated the importance of the fight, and to keep on fighting. I take example from this case. We suffered a very hard defeat here tonight, and I use this example. For me the most important thing is continuing to fight”.
