Romero: “Keeping calm can be our victory”

Malaguista coach, Marcelo Romero spoke to the sports media at La Rosaleda’s press room, ahead of #VillarrealMálaga. “I have peace of mind that at any time we’ll convert the chances we create into goals”.

Dominating the ball

“We know Villarreal have a great squad, but we need to stay focused on what we do in their field, try to gain possession and remain strong. We’re facing a rival that likes to dominate ball possession, so we must try and stop them and take charge on the pitch”.

Villarreal

“They have some quality players, they tend to play a great deal with the wingers on the inside. There’s Bruno and Trigueros who move a lot with the ball, they have a very solid defence…However, we need to win tomorrow and create our football above and beyond the players we’ll be up against”.

Calm and victory

“I hope we have the possibility of claiming the three points and bringing a much-needed victory home. We’re in a moment where calm can be our victory. There’s always talk of statistics, but the most important thing is living in the moment. We have a tough match, but it’s time for us to win, by the team maintaining calm and serenity”.

Many opportunities

“It would be worrying if we weren’t generating goal options, yet our rivals were still scoring. It’s about finding the midpoint. We’ve defended exceptionally well and created lots of chances which we haven’t had the fortune of converting into goals. My concern would be if we didn’t have any chances to score. However, I have peace of mind that at any time we’ll convert the chances we create into goals”.

Hard work and goal

“The team continues to work hard and seek the danger options, but the quota of good luck that we’ve been missing has to come, as we’re generating so many goal opportunities for it to happen”.
