Road to promotion for women’s team passes through Alicante and Canaries

Málaga CF Femenino now knows the promotion play-off rivals to LaLiga Iberdrola. CD Femarguín and SPA Alicante, together with the Blue and Whites, will complete a mini-league in the fight for a place in the top flight.

Málaga CF Femenino know the route they need to take to achieve promotion to LaLiga Iberdrola 2018/19. The RFEF held the play-off draw today, Monday at Ciudad del Fútbol de Las Rozas (Madrid), pairing the Blue and Whites with SPA Alicante and CD Femarguín.

The format of the competition will be a mini-league, and the match calendar is as follows:

First round

Málaga CFF - CD Fermaguín (Málaga) | Sunday 6th May

SPA Alicante - Málaga CFF (Alicante) | Sunday 13th May.

CD Fermaguín - SPA Alicante (Las Palmas de Gran Canaria) | Sunday 20th May.

Second round

CD Fermaguín - Málaga CFF (Las Palmas de Gran Canarias) | Sunday 27th May.

Málaga CF - SPA Alicante (Málaga) | Sunday 3rd June.

SPA Alicante - CD Fermaguín (Alicante) | Sunday 17th June.

These are the rivals:

CD Femarguín is the champion of Segunda División Femenina Group VI. The rival from Arguineguín is the highest-scoring team of the category with 240 goals, and a full house of 26 victories (78 points). They play locally at Campo Municipal de Arguineguín.

Meanwhile, SPA Alicante won Group VII. The Yellows accumulated 63 points from 20 victories, three draws and three defeats, scoring 83 goals and conceding 22. They play locally at Campo Divina Pastora.
