Recio: “The team will fight, and has to fight, until the end”

Team captain, José Recio attended to the media following the match against Alavés. “We’re aware of everything and everyone behind us and what we’re playing for” he states.

Year review

“The year ends in the worst way possible. I think it’s been a year of two stages, with many good aspects for the Club and for Málaga, yet in other ways it’s been poor. This year is ending in the worst way, and I hope 2018 starts off better. The team will fight, and has to fight, until the end. Málaga have been in the First Division for 10 years for a reason, it’s because the team has experienced difficult situations and come through them. Here absolutely nobody can surrender”.

Confidence in teammates

“We’re aware of everything and everyone behind us, firstly our families, as we are playing a lot for our families, the people, the fans, everything; my teammates know this and from the next match onwards I hope the new year brings good things and kicks off well. What we need to do now over these six or seven days is for each one of us to think things over, and thank God we can still do it. No-one is giving up and Málaga will fight until the end”.

Another fan

“Like the other day, we cannot say absolutely anything to our fans. I understand everything, people right now don’t care about what I say. I’m a Málaga fan, I have my people, my friends, my family who are all Málaga fans. I know what the fans are thinking, how much they’re upset and everything they’re going through”.

Permanency in the category

“As an entity and a club, Málaga has grown a lot in recent years, and the least we can do is stand up for our people, our fans, families and friends. Then when the games are over we can look ourselves in the eye knowing the team fought until the end. May is a long way away, there’s a lot of competition to go yet. Hopefully, then in whichever way possible, whether we suffer or not, the Club will remain in the First Division. I’m totally convinced we’ll remain in the elite, and haven’t even contemplated relegation to the Second Division. I’m going to fight for it, along with my teammates, and hopefully between us all we can get out of this situation”.
