Ramón: “We are in a great moment; ready for what’s coming”

The Málaga CF captain spoke to the press this morning: “They are the best team in the league, and we want to beat them to show that we’re aiming for something special,” he said about upcoming rival, Racing de Santander.

Personal moment

“I’ve always worked very hard behind the scenes, aware of what was coming. We are in a great moment, very pleased. We need to keep that momentum and, above all, enjoy it.”

“Through both bad and good times, I am very consistent. In a career, injuries can happen, but I am very proud of the work I’ve done. Very grateful to the physios, the doctor, the fitness coach, the coaching staff… very happy and content.”

“I’m fine, taking it step by step. It’s important to manage training load and minutes played. I feel good and ready for what’s coming.”

Collective and individual

“It’s positive that in recent matches I’ve been playing more than 45 minutes, handling the workload well. We need to keep in the same rhythm. Luckily, all the players are in a good moment. The important thing is that whoever plays, performs well. We are all ready.”

“In difficult times you shouldn’t be mentally either too strong or too weak. I’ve shown strength through every injury, facing them with real grit. Whatever comes, I will overcome it. With a steady line of work, good things will come.”

Team

“I’m fulfilling the dream I had since I first arrived in Málaga at 12 years old. The whole team is eager to achieve something special. I’m ready for what’s coming.”

“What’s good about this team is that it keeps the same joy, and that will be the case until the end of the season. We don’t move away from the idea of only thinking about tomorrow. We keep that mindset, day by day, and that’s something very positive.”

Captain

“A captain is always a captain. Supporting others, thinking about the people who might play less, because thanks to those players the team maintains its level. That’s when you have to be strongest, and they are doing an exceptional job. The strength of this team is its unity.”

Playing style

“I feel very good. The playing idea, my teammates and I have been practicing it since we were very young. We’ve developed an identity that you can now see in First Division teams that are achieving important things. With that personality, we will achieve very special things.”

Racing de Santander

“Anyone who thinks they’re coming here for a stroll or a day out is very mistaken. They are the best team in the league, and we want to beat them to show that we’re aiming for something special. We will go into the match with absolutely no sense of relaxation on our part.”

Dressing room

“We are lucky to have so many players who put the collective above the individual. They are making the difference in why the team is doing so well today. Darko, Lobete, Dani Sánchez, Eneko… and so many players who, thanks to their effort, are allowing the team to enjoy this moment.”
