Press conference

Chupe: “I’ve shown it with actions, I’m where I want to be”

The forward developed at the MCF Academy appeared in the 'Juan Cortés' press room after renewing his contract until 2029. “Now we have to stay focused on the end of the season, with the goal of achieving what we want,” he said.

The press conference began with remarks from Málaga CF sporting director Loren Juarros: “Thank you very much, Carlos, for your willingness and commitment. This time it was your decision to extend your contract for another year in order to take Málaga as high as possible. Congratulations for everything. Everything has happened very quickly and very well. I wish you to continue with the same strength and energy. Together, may you all be able to reach where you want to go. We are fully committed and we trust you completely. Thank you to you, your family, and your agency… thank you for seeing Málaga as a place where you want to continue your journey.”

Continuing with the Malaguista project

“You can see the commitment the club has to homegrown players. The club invests in its academy, and that is one of the main reasons why I have stayed here. They were in contact with my agents, and they knew I wanted to renew my contract here. They have helped me take a step forward because of the club’s commitment to homegrown players.”

Being where you want to be

“You have to stay calm, both the press and the fans. I’ve renewed my contract and I’m where I want to be. Now we have to stay focused on the end of the season, with the goal of achieving what we want.”

Heading into the final stretch

“Like my teammates, I’m very ambitious and really motivated. Every weekend we enjoy ourselves, and that’s what has kept us up there. We’ve got some exciting things ahead.”

Fans’ excitement

“You walk through the streets and people stop us, it’s a source of pride for us, and it shows we’re doing things right. I’ve noticed that Málaga fans are excited. I’ve shown it with actions, and I’ve renewed my contract in a place where I want to be.”

A great group of people

“A lot of joy. We are a family on and off the pitch. Great teams achieve great things. We have a very healthy dressing room, and that allows us to keep moving forward.”

Message for other homegrown players

“They should stay calm and just play. I spent three years in the reserve team, and you need to go through that experience to gain maturity and make the most of the opportunity when it comes.”
