Quality point for Alexander against Uruguay

The Blue and White defender returned to Venezuela’s starting-11 in another South American qualifier for the 2022 Qatar World Cup.

Alexander González reached his 50th international appearance with his national team in the early hours of the morning. The Málaga CF player was again part of José Peseiro’s starting line-up as a right-back, performing well until his substitution by Feltscher in minute 84, in the closing stages of Venezuela-Uruguay held in Caracas.

The result between Venezuela and Uruguay was a 0-0 draw. Another point for the ‘Vinotinto’ side in the CONMEBOL qualifiers for next year’s World Cup competition. Out of six games, Venezuela have accumulated four points, and are 9th in the standings, tied in last place with Peru.

The next official clash for Alexander’s team (except for the cancellation of the tournament due to COVID-19) is on Sunday 13th June in Brazil against the host team (23:00, Spanish time), in the Copa América 2021 debut.
