The City Hall of Málaga this afternoon presented the international friendly in which Spain faces Venezuela at La Rosaleda on 29th February.
At the media presentation were the Mayor of Málaga, Francisco de la Torre; the President of Málaga’s provincial government, Elías bendodo; the RFEF’s board of directors’ spokesman, Jorge Carretero; the national Manager, Vincente del Bosque; the Manager of the Milenio Reino de Granada Consortium, Francisca Pleguezuelos; and the AFE Vice-President, Jesús Díaz. On behalf of Málaga Club de Fútbol were General Manager, Fernando Hierro; Consultant Advisor, Francisco Martín Aguilar; and Vincente Casado, Director of Business Development.
The ticket office proceeds will go towards the Association of Spanish Footballers. It will be the eighth time that La Rosaleda has hosted the current world and European champions. And it is the fourth occasion that they take on Venezuela, with Spain winning the last three matches, including the previous clash in Venezuela in June 2011 which ended 0-3.
On the eve of the match, the national side will hold their first event of the year with a massive ‘Roja’ street party on the Paseo de Martiricos, located next to La Rosaleda stadium. On 28th February between 12:00 and 22:00 and on 29th February between 16:30 and 21:30, there will be players in attendance, live music, competitions, raffles, and activities for all the family. There’s also the chance to be photographed with the World Cup trophy.
Statements to the media:
Francisco de la Torre “I’m convinced that the fans will really enjoy this meeting. Here’s to it being a great success, to winning, to the weather being good, and for it being a day for Málaga to remember. And to welcoming the best team in the world with all the respect they deserve.”
Vicente del Bosque “Santi Cazorla and Nacho Monreal are participating with us. Also, Isco in the youth teams as is Recio who’s a regular there. We hold Isco in high esteem but we’ve got a crowded midfield and it’s not possible to accommodate everyone, but he’s not being ruled out. Venezuela have become very competitive, bringing many youngsters, and they’ve got some great young players such as Rondón. I think Málaga’s campaign is excellent, they’re having a wonderful campaign and the group aspires to be amongst the best.”
