Pepe Mel heads up his first training session

The new Málaga CF manager has met the squad and started work, accompanied by his second coach, Nacho Pérez, and physical trainer, Nacho Oria.

Following the announcement of his role as new Málaga CF coach and subsequent presentation, he took the reins of the team and directed his first training session.

Training took place on the main pitch at La Rosaleda together with his two new assistants on the coaching team, second coach Nacho Pérez, until now in charge of Málaga CF Femenino; and Nacho Oria, physical trainer, who was part of the Blue and White discipline between 2019 and 2020.

Malaguismo could see Pepe Mel in action on his first day during this open training session, with over a thousand fans congregated in the Tribuna Baja area.

Following various activation exercises with and without the ball, the full-field matches took up much of an afternoon session that ended after 19:30, with the fans cheering on their team.

Under the coach’s orders were goalkeepers, Manolo Reina, Yáñez and reserve team keepers Carlos López and Arturo, plus 21 pitch players. Homegrown Atlético Malagueño defenders, Mateo, Jon and Recio joined regular fixtures Moussa, Víctor Olmo, Loren and Dani Lorenzo in training. Haitam was absent as he’s on international duty with Morocco’s Under-23s.

In the gym, Burgos, Ramalho, Luis Muñoz, Andrés Caro, Juande and N'Diaye underwent recovery treatment. In the case of the centre-back from Córdoba, who had discomfort in his hamstring, he has a muscular edema in his left leg; whilst the Senegalese pivot carried out preventive work due to an injury (sustained during the last game) to the internal vastus of his left leg pending evolution.

Training will resume tomorrow, Thursday at 10:30 at La Rosaleda, to continue preparations for #MálagaVillarrealB on Saturday.
