Penalties keep the Forever team from the final

The Association of Ex-Málaga Players team lost in the semi-finals of the FEAFV Solidarity Tournament (Southern Zone) against the host team, the CD Estepona veterans.

Last Saturday, the Francisco Muñoz Pérez municipal stadium in Estepona was the venue for this Andalusian veterans' championship, a tournament Málaga CF Forever regularly won before COVID-19 arrived.

In the morning, the Blue and Whites won their three matches in the first phase of the tournament - by 1-0 against Marbella outfit Marbesula (Catanha goal), 0-4 against Motril (brace from Javi Henares, Catanha and Servia) and 7-3 against Poli Ejido with goals from Duda, Catanha, Zúñiga, Dani Campos, Manolo Gaspar and Javi Henares.

In the afternoon, with numerous absences due to #MálagaEibar taking place at La Rosaleda, the team lost out in the semi-finals to CD Estepona. The match ended in a 2-2 draw (Malaguista brace from Catanha) and the rival won on penalties.

In the final, also on penalties, the Real Balompédica Linense veterans defeated CD Estepona, earning a pass to take part in the final phase of the FEAFV national championship.
