Pellicer: “We’re going to have to show our best version”

The Blue and White coach analysed the upcoming league match against AD Ceuta: “This is one of the games marked on the calendar due to its complexity,” he commented.

AD Ceuta – a tough rival

“I think they are a team that, despite the point difference, are very similar to us. They know how to differentiate well, how to play at home and away. They started very well, although in their most recent games it’s been difficult, but they are the fourth team with the most possession in the championship, second at home. They want to be the protagonists. We’ll find ourselves in a context where they’re going to want the ball and we’ll try to be the main focus. This is one of the standout away games due to how tough it’s going to be. They’ll force us to show our best version. In our last few matches away from home we haven’t got off to a good start and that is a reason we have to improve. Concentration is paramount going into a game. They are an extremely hard-working team.”

The squad, the best signing

“The best signings are those who are going to be in Ceuta. For the players who may arrive, listen up: whoever comes should come and help, we have the best here. You can see how the market is, there’s not a lot of movement. These are difficult situations, whoever comes has to come and help. They will not be a saviour, they have to come with hunger and amateur spirit. Málaga CF is above anyone.”

Nelson, recovered

“Nelson is an animal. That passion he has is what we want to convey. I see more and more children here, more birthday celebrations, more people in the museum... more than when we were in the First Division. For me, Nelson is already ready to be able to compete a month or so after his operation. I have seen few players like that.”

Patience with the market

“You have to have empathy with the sports management. It’s true that I had less patience when the league started, but I understand now that patience is normal. I have a very fluid relationship with Loren and I'm keeping an eye on it, but my best signings are the ones I already have. If they improve their performance - which they are doing very well - they are the best signing. With Loren I have two or three meetings a day every day.”
