Pellicer: “We want to win and dedicate it to our fans”

The Malaguista coach held a remote press conference in the run-up to the match against Real Zaragoza. “We need a win, we must be strong at home, despite the fans not being there”.

The obligation to be strong at La Rosaleda

“We have a duty to ourselves, especially at home, to find the compass that will lead us on the path to victory. The players want it the most, 80% of them haven’t heard the 23,000 voices that were there a year ago against Zaragoza. We want to make our fans happy at home, even though they’re not there. We know how tough this competition is and we have to manage the need to maintain the balance for 90 minutes and return to winning ways at our home ground”.

Finding a balance with a victory

“We’re a team at two extremes at home and away. We need to adjust, as if we were a little more balanced, we could well be in a different situation. We need a win, we must be strong at home, despite the fans not being there. Tomorrow we’re facing a team that has enjoyed a positive dynamic since their coach arrived. They have been bolstered and have potential, not reflected in their place in the standings. They also have away stats that don’t mean anything, as we have to look at their past five games with the new coach at the helm, and we need to regain the strength we had last year. Only a win will do, it’s the best medicine”.

The fans will be closer to La Rosaleda

“In terms of playing at home we’re being penalised due to the fans not being there. Around 80% of the team haven’t been able to see the fans, hear the chants from the stands that push the team forward. Tomorrow we’re going to feature songs from the fans and make a few changes to see if it helps us. We want to win and dedicate it to our fans, as the players are the ones who want the most”.
