Pellicer: “It will be a match for strong minds and hearts”

Málaga CF’s coach spoke at the 'Juan Cortés' press room at La Rosaleda ahead of the match against Córdoba CF. “The team has shown its courage on many occasions; it will be a game with a lot of pace and intensity,” he stated.

Match against Córdoba

“They have a consistent style of play that we are familiar with from last season. It will be a match for strong minds and hearts, featuring two teams that push forward, third and fourth in the league with the most possession, which reflects the personality of both sides. I expect an open game where both the physical and mental aspects will be crucial, as knowing when to hurt the opponent and how to handle high-pressure situations is key. It will be a match with great pace and intensity.”

Córdoba CF

“We are at home. Teams come in with a game plan, but they adapt and evolve. Like us, they are new to the division and want to dominate possession. Precision is crucial, how we handle turnovers and the spaces we leave behind. They are very strong in the centre, playing a high-tempo, back-and-forth style. We will stick to our approach while making adjustments for each match, staying true to our identity. This is a four-point game.”

Dioni and the second line

“Our second-line players need to step up. Each striker has their own strengths and weaknesses. Dioni has scored seven goals, and five of them came from wearing down the opposition. Finishing is crucial, and we are one of the teams where those who finish plays have a big impact. I have great confidence in all three of our forwards.”

Precision

“We need to be more precise in both penalty areas and analyse how we have conceded goals. Our overall play is much better than in the first half of the season, but small mistakes are costing us. We have to improve and increase our precision in key moments. In terms of gameplay and positional attacking, we are doing a lot of things well. But in the end, this is about results. We're working hard, and I see the players in a good mindset.”

Courage

“The team has shown courage and the ability to keep going even when out of energy. We've proven it time and time again, in every situation, to secure victory.”
