Narrow win for Córdoba at La Rosaleda (0-1)

Málaga CF lost to Córdoba CF at La Rosaleda Stadium on league matchday 34. A goal from Jacobo in the second half secured the win for the visitors.

There was an incredible atmosphere at Martiricos with a strong presence of Córdoba fans in the stands. On the pitch, Pellicer made three changes to his line-up compared to the previous match in Oviedo: Pastor, Dani Sánchez, and Kevin Medina replaced Nelson Monte, Víctor, and Antoñito.

In the first three minutes of play, David Larrubia had two attempts, one high with his left foot and another with a header, both creating danger for the Córdoba goal. In the 7th minute, Luismi, dealing with physical issues, left the field and was substituted by Juanpe. In the 12th minute, Kevin failed to finish a clear counterattack in which he could have either assisted or taken a shot from the left side.

The clearest chance before the halfway point of the first half came from Chupe, who hit the crossbar in the 21st minute. Álex Sala, in the 27th, and Obolskii, in the 31st, had the first two notable chances for Córdoba in the match. In the 37th minute, Isaac tested Alfonso Herrero’s reflexes with a strong shot following a corner kick.

Before half-time, the referee showed yellow cards to Kevin Medina and Dani Sánchez, both of which will result in a suspension, as they were the fifth bookings for both players in the competition.

At the start of the second half, Yanis Rahmani came on for Kevin Medina. Córdoba CF took the lead with a direct free-kick goal from Jacobo González (0-1, 50'). Then, in the 59th minute, Málaga made a double substitution: Manu Molina and Julen Lobete were replaced by Ochoa and Dioni. The top scorer for Málaga, in the 68th minute, had the chance to equalise with a shot inside the box, but it was saved by the Córdoba keeper.

Antoñito Cordero replaced Chupe in the 72nd minute, marking the fourth substitution for Málaga. The team pushed for an equaliser in the final minutes, but Iván Ania's well-organised side held firm defensively, effectively dealing with Málaga's attacking efforts. Just before the end of the match, Córdoba could have extended their lead with a goal from Casas in the 95th minute, but it was ruled out for offside after a VAR review.

The final 0-1 result leaves Málaga CF with 42 points after 34 matchdays in LALIGA HYPERMOTION, sitting in 16th place, with a +3 advantage over the relegation spots.
