Pellicer: We have the DNA of suffering and believing

The Blue and White coach held a press conference at Estadio Balear after the 1-2 victory against Atlético Baleares. “We knew how to come back; these are more than three points, because of the self-esteem boost and what it generates,” he stressed.

Sergio Pellicer, Málaga CF coach, appeared in the press room at Estadio Balear following the 1-2 victory against Atlético Baleares.

“These are more than three points, because of the self-esteem boost and what it generates,” he started out by saying. “We were able, despite not starting the game well, to be pretty good with the ball after we went level. We made a comeback which gives us self-esteem, allows us to continue to believe and take steps forward. There are things to improve on, but it’s a six-point match,” he concluded.

He went on to give an analysis of #BalearesMálaga: “There have been several phases, we lacked forcefulness in the chances created. When we took the lead, we had chances to make it 1-3. We didn’t manage it though and had to suffer. However, suffering will be in the team's DNA, and we are happy with the way we won. The commitment of the subs also gives us hope.”

Roberto and Loren scored the goals and “that gives confidence. I am happy for the victory, marked by commitment and suffering, and with things to improve on,” said Pellicer.

The Malaguista coach, despite the victory, stressed that “we have to improve in keeping a clean sheet” and remains “with the DNA of suffering and the players believing in themselves. We have to be more forceful and more effective in the opportunities generated,” he added.

Lastrly, when asked about the loyal fans who are always with the team at every ground, he said that “it is incredible, we have to thank them. There are fans who are almost like family because there are always several that I see at every match, they invest in the feeling. Hard-working people who find it difficult and deserve the respect of our work. This victory is more than three points, next Saturday they’ll be with us again and that is much appreciated,” he concluded.
