Pellicer: “Our greatest motivation is our people”

The Malaguista coach held a press conference prior to the Primera Federación matchday 10 fixture, in which the team will face Antequera CF at El Maulí (18:00). “We have to stay humble and get to work,” he stated.

Málaga derby

“This is a game with fans who are brothers from the province. I hope to see a game that, within the competitive rivalry, has great sporting values.”

A rival in a state of grace

“We are facing one of the teams in the best form. They have earned the respect of the division. Due to the results they’re achieving, and the ways in which they’re doing it. They are the team with the most possession in the category, and the ones who receive the fewest shots.”

Focus on ourselves

“We have to be ourselves and know that they’re not going to change for this match. In recent games, teams have changed the way they play when facing us. We expect Antequera to push us upfront and want to have possession. We also know our strengths. We are a very aggressive team in piling the pressure on, we want to have the ball, take it to the final third, generate opportunities... We have to improve in precision, but this will be a match where we’ll have to manage different situations in all aspects of play.”

Hard work and intensity

We have to stay humble and get to work. For them this is the game of the season, and we have to face it with the same intensity and the same tension with which they are going to prepare for the match.”

The focus is on Sunday

“We are going to put the right team out there to win. I am not thinking about Wednesday's game, nor the next one against Córdoba. We are thinking about this one because I think it’s the most important. I have the same enthusiasm and hunger that they have 50 kilometres away. They’re not thinking about what’s coming up, we have to convey that. We have to follow our path, which is to stay focused and concentrate on what’s coming.”

Going for the three points

Our greatest motivation is our people. This says everything. Every game demands the best, that's why it's not easy to play for Málaga. Every match and every training session we work to the limit. We only think about competing. There are three options: win, lose or draw. We’re going out there to win and not thinking beyond that. We’ll compete and try our best to win and bring the three points back. Anything can happen, but I try to stay positive. We need everyone's support. This is one of the most important years in the history of Málaga. Beyond the standings, we need unity and in the delicate moments, which will come, to be closer than ever.”
