#BurgosCFMálaga review
“It was an even match, with different phases. At the start, Burgos began well, but towards the end of the first half, we had the game where we wanted it. They were showing a lot of uncertainty, and we had control. Despite that, we lacked the finishing touch in the situations we had in the final third. That was the critical moment for them to score, which would have changed the game. We knew that the team that scored would have a big advantage. The second half was more balanced, a more open game that played out more in the way Burgos wanted. There were opportunities for both teams. Our central defenders have really helped us stay in the game. We’ve lacked that little extra in the situations we've had, a couple of losses of possession, corners, and the disallowed goal. But we also had several counter-attacks. It's been punishing not to have more points, having so many draws, but we need to congratulate the guys, keep working, there's no other option. In the first half, there were moments where we saw a great Málaga. In the second half, they took advantage of the spaces that were created, fatigue set in, and we struggled to adjust the changes until the end. The draw is neither fair nor what we wanted, and it's the same for Burgos, but the team that scored would have won the game.”
Always in the match
“We're missing small details, both to win and to lose, because we're going after the game, just like the opponents. What’s penalising us is the final decision-making, we do many things well, we bring the ball to the finishing zone, but we have to keep insisting. The team competes, the victory away from home is eluding us, but we're strong at home. Today we faced a team that is improving, and with their new coach, they know exactly what they want, with solid defence and the ability to suffer. We suffered at times in the second half, but we also stayed strong. We have to keep pushing and creating. I would be concerned if we weren't creating goal-scoring situations, but there were plenty of them. I'm focused on continuing to insist, Roko's chance was close, David Larrubia is getting closer, Lobete is getting closer. Next time, they’ll go in.”
Two games before the end of the year
“The points don’t reflect what the team is showing. There are eight draws, we could have lost two or three matches and won another two or three, and we'd have more points. That's the frustration we feel, but above all, it's about our identity. We’re newcomers to this category, despite our history, which demands that we win every game. We have two more tests to finish the first half of the season, and so far, except for small details in some games, the team has been able to compete against all rivals. Today's match, despite the circumstances, was played by a team that belongs at the top. The small details are what tell us that we could be looking higher up the table, but this is where we are. Two more matches are coming, and we will try to get three points in each to aim for something more, or at least understand our reality and reach 50 points as soon as possible. These next few days will be key.”
