Moclinejo bids farewell to 2024 at La Rosaleda

Málaga CF ends the year by highlighting different municipalities in the province. Artist José Luis Puche presents an extraordinary work inspired by the Moclinejo Máster de Futbolín.

The Malaguistas will be in action on Wednesday at 21:15 at La Rosaleda against CD Eldense on LaLiga Hypermotion matchday 20. The team captain will wear an armband featuring the image of Moclinejo for the last home game of the year.

Moclinejo, located in the heart of Málaga’s Axarquía region, is surrounded by the Piedras Blancas hill and stretches across a ridge overlooking the valley of the Benagalbón river. Its landscape, typical of the area, is marked by gentle hills and ravines where olive trees, almond trees, and vineyards dominate. On the steeper slopes, scrubland covers the land, creating a rugged yet vibrant environment.

With roots dating back to the Phoenicians and Romans, the municipality was founded by the adaptation of its first settlers, who transformed its rugged lands into fertile fields of vines, olive trees, and almond trees. The site of the ‘Defeat of the Axarquía’ in 1482, its castle played a key role in the Muslim resistance against the Catholic Monarchs.

Tradition can be felt at every corner of the town, with its monuments serving as a tangible testament to a community that honours its past with every step. The Church of Nuestra Señora de Gracia, with its 16th and 18th-century Mudejar architecture, stands out for its pyramidal tower and altar. The Monumento al Fiestero, located at the entrance of the town, pays tribute to the verdiales music groups with a delicate sculpture of a violin and tambourine, accompanied by a poem celebrating the music. In El Valdés, the Monumento al Picapedrero honours the strength and dedication of the stonemasons with a surrealist figure and a tree bearing the names of the last stone craftsmen.

The town's cuisine combines tradition and local essence with dishes like ajoblanco, gazpachuelo, and migas, enriched by the soul of its vineyards and subtropical crops.

Moclinejo comes alive with magic and colour through festivals that celebrate its deepest traditions. In September, the Fiesta de Viñeros honours the muscatel wine with a parade through its decorated streets, where the work in the vineyard is reenacted. During Holy Week, El Huerto transforms the square into a sea of colours, with young people decorating the space with plants before the procession. It's a tribute to the land and the community that endures year after year.

José Luis Puche, with his unmatched talent, brings to life the captain’s armband and the poster for the match against CD Eldense. His art, inspired by the most iconic landscapes of the Costa del Sol, is a tribute to our roots.

His work is inspired by the Máster de Futbolín, an iconic tournament that, with its ninth edition held at the end of November, has become a landmark event in the community. The piece captures the intensity and competitive spirit of the tournament, reflecting the passion and skill of the players that make it unique.
