“We want a moment of joy to close one of the most beautiful years in our history”
Sergio Pellicer spoke to the media this Tuesday ahead of the match against CD Eldense: “The fans know the importance of this game,” he stated.
Clear mentality
“We need the intensity and focus to play with space and verticality. When we don’t have space, patience. Be strong on set pieces. They are the opponent that capitalises the most on those situations. Pay attention to recovery after losing possession.”
Complex rival
“I expect a tough opponent who competed well against Elche. They played a great match. At Los Cármenes, they went 0-2 up. They are very strong despite being penalised by the same issues as us. They’ve scored four more goals but conceded six more. They create a lot, but they struggle in the final stretch, especially away from their stadium. They make matches long and know how to defend. I expect very few spaces. The key is to maintain the rhythm of our last two home games, keep creating chances, and maintain that solidity.”
CD Eldense, a familiar rival
“It’s a club that has grown a lot. It’s historic in the Alicante area and is earning respect in the category. They’ve had many matches where they were close to winning. In Burgos, they lost on the last play of the game. I have a lot of affection for them, even though no one remains from when I was there. Every team that has thought of you deserves that respect and affection.”
The importance of a good end to 2024
“The fans know the importance of this game, as it’s the last one at La Rosaleda and an opportunity to bring joy that will mark one of the most beautiful years in Málaga’s history.”
A year to remember
“Let’s remember where we were at this time last year, competing against Algeciras in Primera RFEF. We need to appreciate what we have. I hope we achieve a victory. This is, so far, the most important match of the season. The feeling is that we deserve more, but it’s all about points. We need victories to boost everyone’s morale. This will be a year remembered for Antoñito’s goal, but I take away all the difficulties we’ve faced and continue to face, yet we always remain standing.”
La Rosaleda never fails
“Our people are always there. Last year, when we went to Linares, Sanlúcar… We need to remember where we come from. Now we’re in a situation where we can take a step forward. I expect the same fiery atmosphere to push us. I approach it as if it were the first game. We’ll be closer to achieving the victory.”
