Pellicer: We generated faith, and this was conveyed on the pitch

The Malaguista coach appeared at the matchday 2 post-match press conference following a last-minute win against Atlético de Madrid B. “It’s important that we believe, there’s a long way to go and this is only a first step,” he stated.

Sergio Pellicer held a press conference after the victory thanks to Einar's goal in stoppage time. The coach is aware that “the importance of victory is brutal. We must congratulate all the lads because we started well. In the second half, we generated faith, and this was conveyed on the pitch. Attacking in the rival field, the options appeared, then we had the expulsion... I remain with the faith and the effort they showed. We must continue to improve, but I’m very happy about this win. New energy has been transmitted to the fans, which is important,” he said.

Pellicer knows the importance of La Rosaleda. “We want to convey and generate a new excitement. It's going to be tough, if we didn’t score the goal, we would be talking about something else. We were very daring, with the starting line-up and with those who played later on. They generated enthusiasm and had faith, and I congratulate them all. For many it’s their first game, we have to greatly respect those who come on to the pitch and suffer. When we conceded the goal, we pushed on and the fans helped us a lot, which the boys noticed,” he said about his excitement for the new season.

Regarding the expulsion of A. N'Diaye in the 80th minute, he commented that “I wasn’t able to see it,” but “playing in the rival half, the issue of the cards appears, which is preceded by the lads’ good work.”

After the transfer window closed yesterday, Pellicer said he was “happy with the guys who are here,” although “they have to take a step forward. This is a youth project, but there is the immediate performance and demands of the Club. We have to get the most out of the tools we have. I'm happy, it's what we have and we're going to get the most out of it. Two players per position, there is hunger, enthusiasm and youth, we are prepared to compete to the maximum,” he commented.

To conclude, Pellicer stressed that “on Sunday we have another game, we must know how to handle everything. We have the label for everything we represent and have to be determined to win wherever we go. It’s important that we believe, there’s a long way to go and this is only a first step. We are going to suffer, we already saw it in Castellón, and it’s going to be hard. The victory is important, but above all the faith that the team conveyed,” he said.
