Loren Juarros spoke to the media this Wednesday at the usual transfer market press conference. The manager answered a series of questions:
Satisfaction with the squad
“We wanted to create a different model, young people are the present and future of the Club. We’ve created a team with a sense of belonging. We have met the parameters we wanted. The first five-six signings bring quality to the team, the following arrived in a more staggered manner. We’re pleased and confident in what is being generated, both with the young players and those who have come to provide quality. That’s what we’re focusing on in the club and within the sports structure.”
Complete confidence in Pellicer
“With Sergio there is absolute confidence in his work, in what he is doing on a daily basis. Then, it’s about performing as much as possible and getting the most out of it. We have a group of young players, which is almost half the reserve team, who are at the optimal point of performance for us to make a team. I trust my experience, it is more important to form a cohesive team, with a defined style and players. Sergio is committed and responsible, every week he has to make a line-up, win a game and make the players grow.”
Professional players
“We have confidence in the players and the starting structure. If things go well, we won't have to do anything. If we’ve made a mistake, we will rectify it. You can't have so many players from the reserve team as it affects Malagueño and the Juvenil. Piling them into the first team prevents them from having a more complete squad and also has an impact on the Juvenil team. We have assessed the problem of not having free registrations. Ramón and Haitam may be the two best signings on the team. In October, November or December, the sooner the better, they could be the two best signings so far.”
Player profiles
“We have considered the profile of the players more than the money. No player has fallen due to money, the player's will has been important. Their perception and that of their representatives means that the financial aspect is not relevant. Excluding Castilla, the second most valued team is Málaga, with 10.9 million. What I see on the pitch matters to me, because the assessment varies every week. We have a team that people consider has value.”
Economic margin
“We are happy with what we’ve done, with the squad we’ve planned, and we don't have to spend all the money. I also did it with my family. There are many players who are out of contract for next year (Juande, Ramón, Haitam, Loren, Larrubia, Genaro, Bilal and Moussa). When we need to renew them, we will need to have a little money. If we are in the Second Division projection it will be easy and if not, we will have to propose something different to what they charge, adjust the figures so that they are happier with the contractual improvements. We have had news from the representatives that there were possibilities of leaving the Club and they have been told no. We know in the parameters that they are going to move, but we have to be prepared to retain them, which will be difficult. It’s good that the Club is cautious. If we are lucky and we are at the top, the Club will have more economic margin.”
Short and long term
“The objective is to compete better every day, so that we win games every week. This will take Málaga to a different place than where it is. Win, win and win to improve. That will lead us to having the reward in May.”
Complete squad
“With Manu Molina we are complete. It was a decision focused on what he will bring us and the quality of the squad. It was thought about and valued in a sporting and financial way. Regarding two- or three-year contracts, there are different situations depending on the evaluation by performance and age. There are some who want to stay if we continue next year in Primera RFEF.”
