Pellicer: “The team's DNA is to fight”

Málaga CF's coach spoke in the press room at Nuevo Mirandilla after the 0-0 draw with Cádiz CF. “We leave with the feeling that our motto, never giving up, is still alive,” he stated.

Match analysis

“In the first half, except for set pieces like corner kicks and the plays involving the wingers that ended in the two goals, everything came from our own mistakes. But in the end, what makes the difference is efficiency. In the second half, after making the changes, we managed to score the first goal and get back into the game, taking a risk with Castel. After the equaliser, there were moments when it seemed like we could score the third goal. We leave with the feeling that our motto, never giving up, is still alive. We just need a small push to get those three points we've been chasing.”

Post-match sensations

“The feeling after the first half is positive. This division is tough, and I leave somewhat dissatisfied with the lack of decisiveness and offensive precision in the first half, but we made adjustments during the break, kept calm and organised, and came out as a team that doesn't give up. We know there are things to improve, but the team's DNA is to fight and never give up.”

Return to the Nuevo Mirandilla

“Coming here is a dream; I have fond memories of my last visit, both as a player and as a coach. It’s been a very beautiful match, and every time I return, I feel a special affection for this place.”

Positive rotations

“All the changes were good. Castel, for example, came on and scored a decisive goal. In the end, this process is a continuous evaluation; we are making strategic changes, and it’s crucial for us to position ourselves, analyse the form of each player, and ensure that everyone is active and ready to compete.”

Essence of the team

“We know that in this division, it's crucial to earn three points at a time, but the how and why of things have been evident in the last two matches against big clubs, where the team has stood tall. It's essential to remember where we come from and be prepared for what's ahead; in this case, we're facing Oviedo. We must keep our feet on the ground and act with balance.”
