Forward, Gabi Morales and central defender, Luisa Olmedo will remain with the Blue and Whites for another year. Both players have renewed their association with Málaga CF and will compete in the 2020/21 season under the orders of Nati Gutiérrez.

Luisa Olmedo (Málaga,12/06/2001) has been one of the pillars in the women’s defence. She debuted at 16 years of age with the women’s first team, and since then, has become a starting player. The homegrown footballer moved up from the reserve team to the first team last season and enjoyed a brilliant year.

Morales (Madrid, 8/04/1996) arrived during the winter transfer window to strengthen the team’s attack. She scored a goal before the competition came to a halt due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Statements by Olmedo

The young defender spoke to the official media after signing her contract renewal with Málaga, saying she has “the same level of enthusiasm she had from the outset. I moved up last year and am very happy to renew with this Club as it’s where I grew up”. On a personal note she added that she will try to “work hard to improve individually, which will be seen as the matches progress”.

When asked about the squad and the figure of Nati Gutiérrez as coach, Olmedo affirms that “it’s great that a project is being undertaken involving the homegrown players, and they trust the Málaga youth ranks as they’re very good. Nati is a Málaga icon and the ideal person for this role, both because of her footballing past and how she feels about this Club’s colours”.

Statements by Gabi Morales

Once her contract was signed, the forward said she “is happy about the renewal, being able to enjoy the full year, and can’t wait to get started”. She also analysed the complex season in Málaga: “It was a short season for me, but I enjoyed the games and the training sessions were great. I tried to absorb as much as I could to integrate myself within the team, which is why I decided to renew with Málaga, because of all the feelings I have”.

In terms of the new team, Morales said that it’s “a young group, wanting to make themselves known, to defend these colours and, undoubtedly, show a lot of fight”. In regard to objectives, the forward adds that the goal now is “to determine the team and from there we’ll see what objectives we can set”.
