Málaga CF defeated CD Salamanca FF, at Roma Luz, on matchday 14 of Group 4 Primera Nacional Femenina. Goals from Silvia Mérida (2) and Claudia Muñoz sealed the first Malaguista win of 2022.
MCFF soon took the lead from a strategic play. A corner from María Cortés and a sensational finish by Silvia Mérida, a specialist in this type of action (1-0, 7’).
The Blue and Whites dominated play and increased their lead just before half-time. Claudia Muñoz, with a superb shot from outside the area, netted goal number two (2-0, 44’).
In the second half, goalkeeper Andrea Ríos prevented the 2-1 with a great save on the goal line in 50’. Immediately afterwards, a cross from Encarni on the right was picked up by Silvia Mérida who headed the ball into the net (3-0, 52’). The fourth goal of the season for the Benalmádena-born player.
In the closing stages, Ayala brought on three homegrown players, making their debut: Marta Arias, Lucía and Cristina. Encarni narrowly missed out on the fourth goal around the 80-minute mark, but the ball bounced off the crossbar.
The scoreboard stayed the same and the 3-0 win reflected the girls’ superiority over the rival from Salamanca in the first match of the second round of the competition. MCFF have 40 points (out of a possible 42) to remain the undisputed leader of the table. Vamos Málaga!
