Ramón: “I remembered the tough times and celebrated my goal like mad”

The Blue and White midfielder had a few words for the media at the ‘Juan Cortés’ press room at La Rosaleda after #MálagaSporting: “I’m leaving behind a year in which I suffered a lot.”

Ramón Enríquez put on a superb performance this Sunday. The midfielder contributed to the team’s superiority in the wide area, and also scored the extraordinary goal that sealed the definitive 2-2 draw. After the game, he held a press conference, stating: “I’ve come from a difficult 2021 with three injuries, I sacrificed a lot and worked hard. Starting the year like this, equalising and scoring that goal… I remembered the tough times and celebrated my goal like mad,” he explained.

He also analysed the team’s good game: “The sensations improved as the match went on. We were more comfortable, with more creative players. I gave everything I had with that goal, and it went in,” he commented.

In regard to his stunning goal, Ramón said: “I’m happy because, although I score few goals, they’re good. We claimed a point today, even though we deserved to win. This should be a starting point.”

Aleix Febas and Álvaro Vadillo debuted as Malaguistas and performed well. “Usually, this is seen as competition, but I think that people of this profile are going to help the team take a step forward, which is what we all want. I see it as positive and as a challenge,” he added.

Finally, he was asked about the change to the group dynamic: “The team still feels the same, but we always go through different streaks. We wanted to take a step up and fight to move higher up the standings, to where we want to be,” he said.
